I have really just started progressing in jumping, I have been with my new coach for a year now, though I have been riding nearly 3. However my last two years with previous coach seem to have taught me more bad habits then good, I was pinching with knees, perching, etc.

However, after a year Jen has me pretty well straightened out and now that my balance, flatwork is "acceptable" and I have become a little stronger I have been working on jumping!!!!!!!

Now, my problem is I am in my late thirties, and as I age, my body seems to have become more defiant. Jen thankfully has the patience of a saint, and though I'm sure I tax her nerves on occasion has shown me so much! Last night I did a course consisting of two diagnols, two combinations on either side of the outside line and a quarterline, and for first time ever, I felt comfortable , balanced, and in control over the entire course, My major problems are rounding back and jumping ahead of motion, going into two point too early, etc.

Now, I am scouring the internet fior pix of people jumping to study, and would love to see any pictures you may have, along with what you are doing that is good, and "not so good" I just visited the show jumping forum and saw some great critiques there, would love to see more.

Ok, this is me jumping my old pony Baggins in the practise field:

Well, its not a bad position. My upper body is in balance with the pony, so i'm not going to tip off in any direction when he lands. My toes are pointing out slightly, but that's acceptable when jumping I think, and if I'm being really picky I could say that I'm looking slightly down. But Baggins is cute, so that makes up for everything... :D

ETA: Oh yeah, and I'm jumping the middle of the fence and jumping it in a straight line (useful, to start off with at least).

Alright I put up a bunch of pics and a video lol ... Well I've been riding for 14 years and I've done Arab Nationals, Hampton Classic, Lake Placid, Ocala, and the HITS and I train with Jim York a retired Grand Prix rider. So we're ALWAYS working on no stirrups over fences to improve my leg position, he takes my reins away so I learn to use my legs and body to steer and so that I can practice releases without reins, and I also ride around in two point for about 5 minutes before we start jumping... Anywho here are some pics and a video...

Well here's me in 2002 - in front of the movemnt, not keeping the weight in my heels, using my hands to support myself because I'd collapse in a heap otherwise. I don't know how poor old JS put up with me, bless him! One time I took off a stride before he did & my heels clicked together above the cantle :o Ooops!

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o233/rancidprong/feather.jpg

Here's one from this year - bit better :) Keeping my heels down, shoulders back, a bit behind the movement & I could be a bit softer in my hands but this fence was before a river so I was sat defensive in case Mrs P hesitated.

This one is probably about as good as I can manage :)

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o233/rancidprong/Laughterton-1.jpg

But it can all go bumps up still quite easily - this is the most recent pic, Mrs P hesitated a bit before this log & climbed over it, all my old bad habits came back and I nearly came off! :D

Back to the drawing board...

ETA - I'm nearly 40 so also struggling with a stubborn old body :)
