Has anyone seen both the Clinton Anderson DVD (Gaining Respect and Control and/or Riding with Confidence) and the new Parelli packs and can compare them?

(Im not wanting a lengthy debate over who is the better clinician/person/money maker ;) , just an idea as to the similarities, differences. I have Clintons book and the Parelli book/packs, but am interested in Clintons DVD's as well....)

Thanks muchly :)

Shelby, I have seen both!! Honestly they are VERY similar. What I can state as an obvious difference in my mind is that Clinton Anderson is not afraid to use "cowboy" methods if necessary. What I mean by that is that he appears to be a tad bit rougher when working on ground skills etc. than you see with parelli. Now, I am not saying he beats the horse or anything, but he tends to move harder and faster through the phases of severity than Pat does!! Does that make any sense at all!!!??? :D

I have seen all the CA ones, but only the level one Parelli + trailer loading. I'm with Clinton Anderson because it works for me, and is more direct. He just shows me what we're aiming at, tells me what the problems might be, shows me with a few more problem horses ... he breaks it down into very easy steps and covers all eventualities and that's it. He doesn't try to bombard me with any trite little sayings, or tell me how he's gone from zero to hero. I don't think Parelli necessarily shows us how much he is able to 'up his energy' when the situation calls for it. I think CA is more prepared to show it all - even the ugly parts. But - they are much the same methods, and for sure, PP's trailer loading DVD beats the pants off CA's. CA's Riding With Confidence, and the three groundwork series - Roundpenning, Lunging for Respect and err - the last one, are absolutley wonderful.

Kate makes an excellent point I did not really get to in my post. I agree that CA is not afraid to show you the ugly stuff and plain out tells you that... :) I watch him on a Satellite TV station in the USA states called RFDTV.....VERY COOL station. It has CA, parelli, chris cox, etc. You can learn a tremendous deal from all of them. I also agree that Parelli's trailer loading is far better than CA or Chris Cox's but clinton really helps you on ground work as far as the worst and the best situations as well as helpful advice for tougher horses. Parelli does the EXACT same thing, but sometimes sugar coats things!!! You can't go wrong with either, they are both WONDERFUL horseman!!!

Thanks for your answers, they are very useful. I have seen Pat a number of times, both here in NZ and in the USA, but have never seen Clinton. One day I hope...in the meantime, we dont have RFD TV in NZ (Ive seen a few episodes when I was in the US - its great! ) so DVD's are the next best thing :)

Thanks again.
