My horse has a sarcoid. If you pinch it from the skin you can feel a lump under the skin. It is growing out and more round. The one behing his ear is also growing out.
I hve had no success with camrosa, and sarc-ex didnt do much at all, then nothing.
Alas.
My friend gave me 'THUJA' in liquid form. The sarcoid has nearly gone behing the ear and the one on his leg had shrunk and some of the top has fell off.
I then bought more, but could only find the tablet form. And there both steadily reducing in size.
Ive only been using it for three weeks. I dont have pictures, but i cant feel a lump inder the skin anymore. And they have both reduced around 6mm in size. Ok doesnt seem much, but its something. Also they are not raised any more and its more like just scabs.

Thought people would want to know. Not sure where you can get it from people, apparently boots etc have it.
For those in North East, Horse World on Team Valley is where i got mine!

Hope it helps someone else too.

ooo yeh... and its homeopathy so all natural.

Excellant timing... Thought my sister's loan pony had a fly bite but it might be a wart. No harm in trying this... :)

Wow that's great! I wonder if we have something like that in Canada? (I'm sure we do)

What do your horse's sarcoids look like? Or did?

So a sarcoid is like a large wart? I had the vet look at 2 on Ariel and he's pretty sure that's what they are. One of them, he said I could probably try using a wart remover med. like "Compound W".

No, a sarcoid shouldn't be classed as a wart. Warts are often called sarcoids (and sometimes vice versa) but they are not the same although it is thought that the papillomavirus is also implicated in sarcoids.

Sarcoids are probably best described as benign tumours and there are several different types including occult, verrucose & nodular (there are others that I can't remember the names of). Warts will go away of their own accord and though some younger horses can build up and immunity to sarcoids they do tend to keep coming back if they've had one.

I've had success with sarc-ex and restore (together) though it took a while to work. Thuja did nothing apart from (apparently) stop them from growing. My best success to date has been feeding 'Eclipse Recovery' from Simple Systems. Although it isn't marketed as being for sarcoids it is supposed to support the immune system and as there is reputedly an immunity element to sarcoids I thought that I'd give it a go!

I've also heard recently that there have been good results using a special blend of aromatherapy oils. I think that the site is called 'Animoils' or somthing similar. I haven't checked it out yet but it's on my list of things to do!

I didnt get the global herbs succcess. And the thuja although says just stops more growth is actually reducing the growth!!

A sracoid LOOKS like a large wart. But IS NOT A LARGE WART. 9/10 times the 'wart' turns out to be a sarcoid anyway thoug.

I've just been out to buy Thuja for what looks suspiciously like a sarcoid although the vet won't commit himself without doing a biopsy. Not sure if I got the right variety though as these are Nelson's homeopathic ones and you have to put them under the tongue every couple of hours  . I can't be doing with that, I have to go to work, so have I bought the wrong ones?

to throw a spanner in the works folks, sorry

My tb mare developed what looked suspiciously like 2 sarcoids, one on the inside thigh, one between her front legs, both the size of a damson.

this was through the winter.
i left them alone, and they just dropped off this summer! If I'd been treating them, I'd have thought -Bingo, found a cure.

My welsh D gelding has had them for 15 years, between his back legs, they have been treated with liverpool cream and are slowly growing again.

How can you make sense of the damn things?

Try anything you think may help, and bury a bannana skin by the light of the moon if you think it'll help, they are soooo unpredictable.

Hateful things.

bury a bannana skin by the light of the moon if you think it'll help :D :D LMAO

My filly has this summer developed some small 'warts', round her belly button and just at the top inside of one back leg. I haven't spoken to the vet about them, as when Bo was younger he got some like it and they dissapeared in about a year so I haven't worried about it (and won't so long as they don't get much bigger) but its interesting to see what others have used to help reduce sarcoids.

Mogadoga - Glad you have had the same success as I did with Thuja :) I couldn't believe how quick and effective it was. Jake had had his sarcoid for a few years behind his elbow and it was gradually getting bigger, about 1" in diameter, I tried the Thuja cream and within a couple of months it had gone altogether, and, touch wood, after about 3 years, it still hasn't returned, and no more have appeared either :)

Does anyone know if the sarcoid could possibly be aggravated by the Thuja cream and get even worse? I heard that sometimes you can make them angry and end up worse off. I think my horse may have 2 small ones but I'm scared to touch them really. Its difficult to know what to do:confused:
Has anyone had any bad results using Thuja?
What do you think?
