Heya,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a way in which to add a bit of shine to rubber riding boots. Mine just look so dull at the moment - would love it if i could get them a bit shinier and sparklier for my show :D .

Thanks

:)

ETA: Do you think vaseline would work?

Believe it or not, furniture polish works a treat. Used to use Mr Sheen on my boots before a show!!! Don't think vaseline would be any good because everything would stick to your boots.......... Ha Ha!!

WD40 works a trick! Makes it shinier and gives it the 'wet' look, but it never dries :D

Not sure how you could make your boots shinier but I wouldn't use Vaseline as it causes rubber to perish!

right, when you oil your pony's hooves, what is left on the brush, without putting it back in the bottle, wipe over your boots. Leave for 5 mins, then wipe off...lovely shiny boots, and no fuss!!!

I used to wash my rubber riding boots with washing up liquid, it didn't make them ever so shiny but it did deep clean them and make them look smart :)

Baby oil works well also

You know those boots buffs you can get... dont know the name but its a plastic handle and there is a sponge attached, no mess as the sponge which obviousley has polish on it pulls up a rather mighty fine shine on them!;)

From ASDA or anywhere really.

Echo Vimto- The shoe polish pad things (for lazy shoe polishers) are absolutely excellent. And they dry so that you don't have stuff stuck to your boots. The other thing is to clean them with normal shoe polish, and buff up with brush and duster, I used to do this as a child and it made them look brand new!!!:D

I make mine shine with hairspray! I spray on a couple of layers a few minutes apart, then they're good to go:)

Just remember that whatever you put on your boots is likely to come in contact with your saddle or your horses' side, so make sure it's something that won't ruin your saddle or irritate your horses skin. :)

Never done any real shows but we did have a fun day and I used furniture polish to make my boots look better - they do shine up really well.
