We moved into our property last year and the paddock had lots of different mushrooms in it, One of our dogs ate some of them and very nearly died (shes fine now!) when i moved the horses on the mushrooms had gone, but now there comin back. Are mushrooms poisonous to horses?! I have no where to move the horses to so advice would be appreciated!!:)

i have never seen a horse eating mushrooms, our horses have been living in fields that are covered with mushrooms this time of year for 15 years with no side affects.
personally i love mushrooms especially the magic ones;) :D :D :D

Horses don't seem to eat them. My horse takes one sniff at the mushrooms I'm picking/eating and walks away totally disinterested.

I have the same concerns but agree with other replies - from what I've seen, horses seem to ignore them.
We get them too at this time of year (warm & damp) - all sorts.
I imagine some of the mushrooms that are toxic to us may harm them, but it must depend on quantity too - if they barely take a sniff, I hope we're okay! They do occur in the wild eg New Forest where I used to live, and have never heard of such probs there.
I squidge tiny ones with my welly if I pass (so harder to nibble at). I have scraped some off and removed them before, but having read that the top bit is only part of it and they recur, that now seems pointless.
IMHO we have to trust the horses and not leave them starving & desperate!

You tease!;) , selling of magic mushrooms is banned in Ireland, a law was rushed through when [U]one person[U] fell off a balcony and died. A lot more people have died from booze and cigs, it makes you think. Apologies for going off topic.
