Can I wear half chaps with paddock boots for western riding or would I look ridiculous? This is just for lessons, not for the show ring.

If you're comfortable riding in them, then go for it. You probably won't see anyone else riding in half chaps, but I don't think anyone would laugh at you for it. If you really want to fit in, just buy yourself some full chaps. :p

Doesnt matter what you ride in, as long as you're comfortable :). If anyone says anything, just tell them where to go :D

Why do you need to wear half chaps? Is it that you usually ride in breeches and need something to cover the gap?
I have had a Western lesson in the UK and just wore my jods that first time. Riding western one really doesnt need anything tight round one's leg, as Western girths and stirrup leathers are very flat.
You dont even need to wear special trousers - any comfy jeans or trousers will do or just jods. And any boot with a heel.
(I now have Robinsons own brand riding jeans recommended by cvb on NR and I wear Ariat terrain boots)

I don't really think you need to wear half chaps. I just do it because I find them comfortable and it helps keep my boots on as they are a bit too big for me :D
