I think she's looking good. Her tum's always been low-slung:rolleyes: Her other bits are doing well, tho' . Thought you'd like to see her 'painted bits' of white, too.

Gosh she's lovely! From the other pictures I've seen of her I thought she was just a bay, her little white markings are lovely and such an unusual shape.
Hows your head, hope you're feeling a bit better! (are you sure she ditched you, from those piccies she really looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth ;))

I will say she is also a little trimmer around the waist line.
Gorgeous girlie girl!

What a very trim girl she is! She looked fine by me before anyhoo... I always admired that 'apache' style diamond on her side - luverly :p

Aaw thanks peeps! You's very kind.
Imp, if you could've seen her from the front/ behind a few weeks ago, you'd have understood why we called her The Bowser (you know that water-tanker thingy)! That girlie loves chomping. In the daytime, she's been in a penned-off section of a field with no grass to speak of, and has been worked properly by my brilliant helper/friend
EmmaG, thanks, I'm 'getting there' as they say. As for the butter not melting, you can say that again! No, she really is a sweetie, nature-wise. Just young and unpredictable. I'm hoping I can work things so I can hang on to her, because I love her so..

I'm soooooooooo sorry, I didn't mean to offend all you bay owners out there, my favourite pony when I was little was a bay and the share horse I had for five years before I bought Mimi was a bay, I don't know why I used the word 'just' :(
;) I was offended by someone the other day on a what's your 'favourite horse colour thread' who said they didn't like duns - I told her that she'd just insulted half my horse! :D

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c284/HQ279/tail.jpg
That was earlier in summer, before I tidied up the ends. Her hair is like piano wire, and wavy. Heavy horsey in there, deffo.
She's a good doer allright.
Next, around same time, podgy girly in action!
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c284/HQ279/mich-1.jpg
... no, not the rider, she's skinny! That's my poor friend, just after sitting a spook... HQ was on restricted grazing, but my little hacks with her weren't burning off the cals.
Now for an early, early pic. Vetting, Christmas '05
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c284/HQ279/vetting.jpg
Boy, do I see now what a baby she was! My horse dentist said, in May, that HQ was only just 4
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c284/HQ279/Handcharlotte.jpg
This is HQ under saddle, at the second of my three viewings. At the time, I thought she was rising 6. Well, it's poss, don'tcha think? That's the girl who did most of HQ's schooling, and had taken her to her first little dressage comp. where she came 7th out of 23. I believe that bit, cos the weird thing is, HQ knows a bit of stuff for all her babyness.

and she IS such a love;)

She really is a pretty horse! A cob, I assume. (I'm just guessing because of the hairy feet (fetlocks?). ) Only 4 and so knowledgeable -- amazing! :)

Aww HQ you are so gorgeous. Whispering sweet nothings into your farriers ear, you flirt!
She has come such a long way under your care LD. With that kind face, I am sure once she has some more miles on the clock you and her will have the perfect partnership together :)
Little Dolphins
30th Aug 2006, 10:56 PM
Aaw thanks Clare!!
I so hope you're right about the partnership. I do have my doubts. She's just the kind of horse I'd love to have- and she's mine! But I don't know if I can get my nerve and skills together.
HQ has been good as gold with my friend who's riding her at the mo.
They even went out on the roads today, which I haven't done yet, across the level crossing and all sorts- and Harley was 'a Star' apparently.
Now, I did that kind of thing when I tried her out, you know, all confident  Tankers passed us, tractors, etc etc.
Now she's mine I've kinda gone AARGH I've got a HORSE:eek:
Still, I'll stick to my plan, and aim to work on my confidence. I reckon I'll be able to start next week and have a sit on the lovely gelding I've been offered as a temporary ride. Apparently, IF he spooks, he does it SLOWLY.:D

Funny you should mentioned that LD, I was thinking about this last night regarding my own situation.
How when you try these horses out when you are viewing, the owner / dealer tells you they are fine to hack and to go out and see for yourself, and that gives you the confidence to just do it and expect everything to go right and it invariably does.
But once home so often things take a step back, and I wonder if that is due soley to rider confidence (in my case) or when riding a horse that isn't yours do you not analyse every moment and notice every little thing that isn't going right (like me:rolleyes: ).
I am still pondering that one ....... I think if I didn't think so much things would be fine :D
Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to start considering riding again :)

She is lovely - what breed / height is she? Is HQ short of harlequin? I think I picked that up from a previous post? (sorry, not very on the ball..)
Little Dolphins

Hi Lucyad!
Thanks for saying she's lovely; you can be my friend, too :D
Just been looking back at your Oscar pics- did you say he was part CD?
He's absolutely gorgeous, and I know HQ would fancy him rotten!
Harlequin indeed is her name, but I reckon that's a boy's name and I'd have liked to choose one for her, but she would've been confused if I'd done that.
She's a cob born of an Irish piebald mare, father unknown. She's 15.1-and-a-bit, tricolour, and as you can see, is quite long in the back, not short-coupled (which I read is considered a fault in a cob). A v. comfy ride tho' (except when I'm falling off....)!
I have wondered if there's some CD in her, cos of the white splashes and amount of bone, but she's way too short for that, I guess! My RI reckoned Welshie somewhere in the mix.
Who knows?
Did you have any ideas, Lucy?

She's lovely, and horses that are long in the back are very comfy rides, even if it IS considered, by some, to be less than perfect...:) besides who IS perfect? ;)

I thought she was Harlequeen
Hi Caz- fancy remembering that
:) !
You're right, she was on a website under that monniker and I thought it was great! The selling-yard didn't have a site at the time, so a friend of the owner advertised HQ for her; she likes to have fun with the write-ups, and 'jazzes up' the names!
When I actually went to view, I was roundly told that it was "HarleQUIN".
Have to say, not very imaginative, or correct, if you want to be pedantic (remember him?;) ) about it.... in the Comedia del'Arte theatre, Harlequin is the clown, and COLUMBINE is his girlfriend.
So, I've got a mare with a boy's name.
Blimey, don't I go on?!:o

Not bad for someone recovering from concussion!!! :)
