Hi

I have a 14.2hh 3 year old irish cob cross who is a good doer! He is out on good grass during the day, but comes in at night with a average size haynet(meadow hay). He is slightly overweight in my opinion at the moment but i am starting to back him and do a bit of lunging with him this week, so hopefully he will lose a bit of weight!

Last winter i fed him on alfa A and suregrow pellets with 1/2 scoop of sugarbeet and he did well on it(a bit too well)!

At the moment he is getting a very small bucket feed once a day with 1/2 scoop of alfa a lite and 1/4 scoop of speedi beet. I do want to add a supplement but not sure which one? there are so many on the market!!! He is still growing so i want to make sure he gets the right vit/minerals.

Can anyone recommed one for a 3yr old good doer??

Thanks :)

NAF General Purpose Supplement did nothing for my pony, so doesn't get my recommendation.

I've heard good views on Dengie Optimum (http://www.dengie.com/optimum.htm) though.

Equivite is a very good broad based min/vit supplement

I feed selenevite E to my cob. Or you may want to look at one of the dengie fibre feeds, dengie compliment, which can be fed with your existing chaff. It's ideal for most horses and ponies and is a balancer-type feed so already has the vitamins and minerals in there already.
