i think its got something to do with when the horse is growing, and different parts of its body grow at different speeds or the muscles effect the way its body grows?!?!? but it makes the horse quite sensitive i think:confused:

This seems to explain it quite well Kirstie.

I havn't had any experience with a horse with this, but my Labrador was diagnosed at 4mnths. For him it mean't restricted excercise as a youngster and occasional lameness that he grew out of as he stopped growing.

I think it is the same for horses, some will need an op, but at the other extreme some will only have minimal signs.

Is it Amba? or would you rather not say?

OCD actually stands for osteochondrosis desicans. This is do do with an abnormal growth of the cartilage and the horses bone. Is mainly occurs in foals that are fed too much and as a result grow to quickly. But it can sometimes be genetic.
