:D VERY very happy and excited... I went to try a 14.2 part arab mare about 2 weeks ago.. mainly for hacking, which is what I want right now. She was totally gorgeous, we got on perfectly...I took her out for a hack and we had a lovely 1.5 hour ride on the common, which is on the doorstep to the yard, only 10 mins from where I live.. I knew she was "the one" right away, and told her owner, but right after our try, she got sick! (an infection) and as she is 24... younger than me (lots! LOL)... but still quite an elderly lady, I was worried that she might be off work for quite a long time, and I had heard nothing for a week and a half... But I got an email from her "Mum" tonight telling me she is on the mend, and would I like to go up and see her and perhaps start to "do" her without riding or paying for a while until she is better..?
Is the Pope Catholic? Do bears... um.. in the woods? :D LOL so I am almost a sharer! Weee....:D
I shall let you know how I get on... Oh this is her by the way.. isn't she pretty?

She is very comfy... has a long stride, and is forward going without feeling like you don't have brakes.. she was incredibly good out on the hack too.. we had to pass within about 10 metres of the end of the runway (there is a private airfield next door) and she apparently doesn't bat an eyelid when planes take off and fly over her head! LOL.. she also just looked down her nose at the other horse on the hack when she spooked at things... as if she was saying.. "Oh honestly it's ONLY a hedge!" a nasty horse eating hedge... but still only a hedge..
I am hoping to hear from her "mum" later today.. so keep your fingers crossed..:D
Sophie, definately.. we can pass on ideas, tips and generally share experiences.. what is your share horse like?
I am in Surrey Whatanejit, near Woking. So I have the advantage of two commons one on either side of the yard, Chobham and Horsell..
I can't wait to go and see her again...:D

Ah, I see. When you said common I thought you might have been near Epsom.
Best of luck with her.

Misty sounds more and more perfect the more you write! I'm thinking *I'd* probably spook at an airfield with planes taking off/landing, never mind the horse... You must keep us updated and remember the New Rider rule... plenty of pics or else!! ;) :D
By the way, I really like your website, I've been reading and reading.. I reallyhope you and Merrick get it together properly soon, it sounds like you've been having an "interesting time" ..

Oh yes piccies will most definately follow..:)
I am going to see Misty tomorrow... so I shall take my camera... :D :D To do a bit of mucking out (who'd ever think I'd get excited about mucking out?! LOL) and then if I am confident, go up later and put her to bed on my own...
But in the meantime, more photos i. I have been all over the internet and gathered the photos her "mum" has posted to advertise her as a share..

Hi Rowdent,
She is so lovely! My share is a 14.2 grey cobby type, he is six. I think he is gorgeous, but to be absolutely objective Misty is prettier!! I start on on 18 September, it is my first ever share - so I may be coming to you to ask stupid questions :o
rowdent
30th Aug 2006, 07:29 PM
It's my first share too... but I did have horses in another life.. LOL.. well OK an earlier life... when I was young free and single etc.. You know that sort of life..?.
I will try and answer any stupid questions, but I may quite well have stupid ones of my own in return! It's been quite a while since I looked after a horse, and things have moved on since then... rubber matting in stables... ?? We'd never heard of that when I had horses... ;) LOL
She IS very pretty isn't she?... although she doesn't look it, she is 24! So she really has been there done that, got the t shirt/stable blanket. But looks are skin deep, as the saying goes, and I'm sure your lovely grey, you don't mention his name? will make up in personality whatever he might be missing in the looks department... and it really is horses for courses, some people prefer cobs anyway. :)
I can't wait to go and see her tomorrow.. it's all so exciting isn't it?

Some horses simply get even more beautiful as they age, I think.
Misty is amazing!
I do hope it all works out and that you and she are 'the ones' for the share!!
We wait to hear:D

Yes Ben, the lovely grey, seems a real cutie and well suited for novicey me. I am very excited about the whole thing. So not at all jealous (well maybe the tiniest bit envious :p ) of the gorgeous Misty - who is 24! Wow horses obviously age better than people!
Look forward to swapping experiences, good luck

What a beautiful mare she is! She sounds perfect for you too :)
I think doing some of the 'chores' (I enjoy mucking out for mine - sad or what? :o ) related to having a horse and groundwork are the best way of bonding. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful relationship with her for many years to come :D
Love the pictures :p

I forgot all about my camera until she was safely tucked up in bed.. LOL..
But I am now "officially a sharer!" :D Her owner is going to ride her for the first time tomorrow after her infection, and see how she gets on, but she does seem MUCH better.
Then I am going up on Monday ""officially" as her sharer and we are going to put the wheels in motion... or should that be hooves..
I wanted to stay there all night and watch her eat! LOL.. how daft am I..? LOL
What a pretty girl... she was SO good, she came cantering up to me in the field.. saying "take me in!" such a sweetie.. I'm smitten can you tell?

When you say "I'm just popping down the yard for half an hour" (horse time) and reappear three hours later (real time)!!! ;)
