Are there no recomended associates in scotland? i was hoping to get one out on a reasonably regular basis for Kez and I (want to make sure we start him off as best we can) but there appear to be none covering scotland. Is that right, or am i just misreading the list?

I've just looked on the Intelligent Horsemanship list and they don't seem to go north of Co Durham. Hard to believe.

Oh that's a shame EB!

Why not email them just to make sure, might not have updated the list recently.;)

Not an RA, but I know a good "natural" trainer near Oban. Depends which bit of Scotland you are in :)

hmm, i might be a bit too far away then. I'm in Aberdeen, so practically the other side of the country. But if they are willing to travel....

I think she mentioned going to Aberdeen... well, no harm in ringing her is there? Her name is Shuna Shaw and her number is 07960 014646. I have lessons with her when she'd down south, and she's great.

There was an RA in Scotland as I contacted her a couple of years ago to come out to Martini. She was from Glasgow though and we had to cancel due to bad weather, nothing else came about it though as Martini then got laminitis. At the time she was a pretty new RA. I'm trying to remember her name but my memory is failing me

ETA: Her name was Morag Higgins, I have found her phone numbers and emails if you are interested PM me :)

Yes, she is associated with Silversand Natural Horsemanship, so uses groundwork to build into ridden. You could do as much groundwork as you both felt was required, and some liberty too if you wanted. Shuna is excellent at starting young horses, she brings Eriskay ponies to the mainland and brings them on to sell to approved homes.

thanks for that, and thanks for that contact number martini55. i'll have to call both and have a chat, see who may be most appropriate for Kez at this stage :)

Morag Higgins was on the RA list up until quite recently but isn't any more as you point out. It would appear from her website that she's decided to do her own thing, which could have been for any number of valid reasons :)

Edit - replace * with an o, old NR censoring going on there :D

There was a girl called Sarah(can't temeber her sirname)- westhill I think she lived - she did a groundwork RC clinic a few years ago - I will see if I can get hold of her name and No. for you - If she is still in the area

I've met Morag a couple of times (and we've done a uni visit to her place) and she's really nice.

But I'm not sure if she comes to you - I think you might have to take them to her.

I am interested in getting a RA out though to see Brodie and try to work out his pole and narrow-space problems. But they have to be be able to come to me - it'd be far too stress to move him to them.

It might be worth ringing the IH office, they may be able to put you in touch with a student in the area who would be able to help, they will often be looking for case studies to work with :)
