Usually Storm comes into season around March until end October (I think) every month for a few days. Silly season I call it....!!!

Don't they come into season in the winter then? What mechanism prompts that - warmth? light? Is that the same for horses in NZ/Australia, and what happens if they change hemispheres? Sorry to add so many more questions

Somebody did tell me on the old yard that they came into season for a lot longer and sooner when there was more light - don't know if thats true - don't even know if its anything to do with electric light or sunlight? Also, with Storm particularly, her seasons are more regular because she's turned out with Joe - last summer I hardly noticed her being in season - as she was turned out away from the boys!!! I guess changing hemispheres, eventually they would regulate themselves? I honestly don't know! Their seasons probably are similar to what they would be in England - because even tho its warmer in NZ / Australia, there will be a winter season of sorts too?
