What colour saddle pad should I put on a coloured horse for dressage?
As a tobiano, the horse I ride, is basicallt skewbald with a black and white tail and a black and white mane.He has a fair amount of white on his body, and a white saddlecloth looks ghastly on him.Any ideas??

What colour is your tack??
My friend has a skewbald and she has got brown tack so got a furry brown numnah..he looks smart.
Usually for dressage a white or black cloth is used

i thought you were suppose to have a white saddle pad for dressage regardless of the colour of your horse.

Must admit,I wasn't sure but thought black MIGHT be allowed in UK. His tack is black. Guess I'll have to look it up on the BDA site.I love purple too.His boots are purple, but then those have to come off for the 'real thing' don't they?? Thanks any way.Nice to see what a colourful bunch we are here on NR!!

Not sure where you are based. Black and white are allowed in the UK. You can use a saddlecloth or a numnah. If you use a numnah you would probably get away with using a brown one. Plain cotton type are better either way unless you use real sheepskin.

I know you are asking about a dressage pad but my question is about the saddle. Most dressage saddles I find are black. Is brown acceptable in dressage? My horse is chestnut and I have a brown bridle. I've just found that my saddle is keeping me from feeling balanced on my horse so I am going to have to go shopping. I want to do dressage one day and I like a brown saddle on my horse. Any suggestions or advice?

Brown is allowed, at least at the lower levels, although I personally think that black looks better for dressage.

In Austria you have to use a white numnah or saddle pad for dressage, but you can have coloured edging on it which I think looks great! How about white with purple or blue edging ?
