Well folks, I finally did it, I had a lesson on Dolly today!
It was horrendous, she was a witch, I tensed up and made it worse, my instructor corrected my position about 500 times in half an hour and my legs, back and arms ache like hell.....
Thorougly enjoyed it, and having another one next week! ;)
By the end of the half hour (that was long enough believe me!) I did have some semblance of a decent position and control at the same time- I hadn't realised just what terrible bad habits i'd got into!
Roll on next wednesday!:D

I go to pieces when new RI's are watching me. :o But hey we arent perfect and that is the reason why we are booking lessons. ;) Glad you enjoyed yourself enough to book another lesson. Maybe you could do weekly updates for us and give us some advise from your lessons.:)

I feel like a right cretton when I have a lesson and protest hugely when she plays up saying, 'she was good the other day'.......
Well done, with regular lessons you'll be amazed at what you can do.

Secondly: Yep, I agree with Nic, weekly updates like W'jit does would be great... I'm hoping to start riding again in the next month or so since my last ride in March so I'd love to hear how you get on:D !

I also find the first lesson with a new instructor difficult, but then it gets easier :)

.... and try to get someone to take a photo of you... eyes screwed up, jaw set and tongue peeking out of the corner of your mouth as you concentrate..... :D :D
Seriously hun... well done! It's amazing how long half an hour lasts when you are riding "properly" isn't it? But then if you come away exhausted and achey it shows how hard you have worked.

Won't be a problem to do a weekly lesson thread- but I'm sure you'll all be bored senseless by them!!
This week I apparantely have to forgo riding Dolly (good job as she's lame!) and will be riding Charlie- stunning 17.3hh TB X ID.... on the lunge with no reins and no stiruups:eek:
Remember me when I'm gone folks...;)

My RI calls my tongue "the third rein" :o
Blimey, HC, 17.3! You wouldn't want to fall off that...

I go to pieces too! I don't want them to see how I've been riding my own horse for years and years. :o I usually only have one lesson and they think I'm a complete pleb. Then they see me out showing and I've had the comment twice "I didn't see you two going around like that when you had a lesson with me." Ah... oop.
I also go to pieces when I'm riding a horse that belongs to someone else when they're watching. Scared I'm going to be told off, for goodness knows what!
Glad you had a good lesson though Claire! Have fun next week!
