Me and Cilla met and started together by accident in April. I was looking for a second horse, offered to ride her, fell in love and bought her.

She is a 15.2 TB moody mare. We decided to go slowly with her because I get spooked easily, and apart from rearing up with me one day shes been fine.

In the last couple of months however she has changed. He moods are more frequent, her stable manners worse and her work in the school more variable.

She canters off if allowed to canter ( not just with me, but other better riders) head down and off she goes, and there is no easy stop.

She dosnt understand the word stop at all.

She wont let you mount safly before trying to escape, her transitions are poor, she wont hack out.......

This week shes done all of the above + reared up, spooked big time.......

So Ive decided. She is to have a weeks reschooling, then I will decide where we go from there. Maybe she goes on to a more experienced person, or bcvomes a brood mare. I just dont know.

IM sad though as I thought she was my future, Im not at all sure now. Sorry CIlla.

Sorry to hear that Libbyo - bloomin horses, break your heart wouldn't they?

Sorry to repeat the mantra but teeth, back and tack?

I assume all checked.

Have you thought of an RA?

Fingers crossed for you.

Teeth, back and tack, all done. Louise Stonestreet will do the schooling, shes fantastic, got total trust in her. If Lou says she can jump well, well maybe Lou can jump her for me for the winter season. Maybe shes just bored out of her brain?

RA? Forgive my ignorance But this is?

A Riding Associate - of the Kelly Marks/ Monty Roberts crew.

Some people have found them useful.

Glad to hear physically she is ok. Hopefully your rider will sort her out or at least help you make up your mind.

Will try with Lou. Then re-assess the situation. If Im honest. I think its boredom thats her problem, nothing else.

Storm was bored and I never knew it - since OH (he's a much braver soul than me) has been jumping her - she's a different horse!!! Much better in the school in general, but if she thinks that she's going to get to do some jumping at the end of the session, well, ears prick up - and she's off! She looks so happy! She really listens too - not just the wild cantering off with the nose poked up! The change is marvellous! She even responds well now to being cantered early on in the session, whereas before I used to have to "tire" her out before trying! I do trotting poles with her too - lots of variety. Oh, I really hope it works out for you - hope the person training her for a week can get to the bottom of it for you.
