Well I too 'Fatty' to Beaver Hall on Sunday for a couple of in-hand classes, one being native/traditional coloured horse and the other open in-hand.
We had a first and third, although have to admit, only entry for the colouerd class:p ! Other people must have realised we were coming and decided not to bother!!!!:D :D
Ah well, it doesn't matter, good experience for us both. He as a good boy loaded up and travelled an hour by himself and took most of it in his stride. Bit naughty when we wanted to go home as he wouldn't let me put his travel boots back on, too much activity from the lorry parked next to us, they just started unloading all their horses and he just had to have a look. In the end, had to load him up unbooted, but was just getting to stressful!:(
Anyway couple of piccies, not quite sure who had the better workout, me or him!

Bit far off, but my little legs going ten to the dozen, trying not to get tangled up in his legs!

Thank you!
Good job you can't quite see close up!!
He lives out which presents problems when shows come along, last night he was turned out after a lot of grooming, no bath as YO wouldn't let me said it was too cold, but did bath his lower legs, tail and white bit of his mane. He had his bright pink rain sheet on and bright red thermatex leg wraps on, looked like a reject from the Kids from Fame!!!
But it worked, not too dirty the next morning and his legs all nice a fluffy!!

Wow - beautiful horse....
It always amazes me how uncrowded your shows look over there?... they look so calm and relaxing.
Where are all the screaming kids on ponies and loads of people judging (in their opinion) from the sidelines? :)

VickiGG, believe me you do get shows like that! With all the little 'darlings' running about screaming and getting really stroppy with their ponies and mummies on the sidelines hissing instructions at them!:p
It was very quiet to be honest, I think there were a couple of other shows in the area that people had gone to. But I think in-hand classes tend to be a bit quietier anyway (in my recent experience!) as we were going, more people did turn up for the ridden classess in the afternoon.
However, I don't mind it being quiet as breaks us in gently!:)

yes, that's a great way to start. I am on the look out for a quiet one.... to get us started again for the season
Lovely arena you had....we have to run in paddocks with pug holes in our inhand shows!
Just about break your ankle!

Nicolaj - You would of won even if there was more competition. Your coloured is very flashy. It is good that it was quiet. A good start to your future success. Update us on more shows please. I love looking at pictures. :D

That is a nice surface to be honest, but most of the time, if not all, you end up on grass with a nice uphill slope and little divets in the grass that you nearly turn your ankle on!
He really got a spring on and a couple of times did end up slightly out of the arena!:o
By the way, is that you and your horsey in the picture? Very nice!!:D

Hate to disillusion you and all but this is the normal look of most shows. Thank god my horses are fine with others - I'd hate to have a kicker-

And the normal ring is like this - on a steep angle.

And that was a small local show. At least the grass there was good - sometimes it comes up to your knees and loads of dockens.

Don't expect a posh arena like that if you come to our show!

:p Gorgeous pics overall!
ALL THAT GREEN GRASS!!!!
I am jealous!
I am in DRY TOWN, CALIFORNIA.... where there is no green grass less it was made by a landscaper..... :D Mostly it is dry sand...ummmm...thats IT!
What I'd do for those rolling hills, TREES (Aside from Joshua Trees here), and GREEN GREEN GRASS!!!!
Ok... I'm done :p

Hey Nicolaj - yes, that's me in the silly hat!! I was trying to be colour co-ordinated - hard with a Palomino - you can imagine what red of pink looks like.
ps love your horse's feathers. You see them on clydesdales here.
iluvhorses28 - you can have some of our grass  - there is too much sugar in our grass here in NZ - not really good for them - we have to up their fibre intake (hay/haycubes/beet) to keep them healthy. :(

Just ignore the handler!!:p
It was quite difficult running round with him that way as kepts tripping over his legs! Also, did manage to end up outside the arena once!:o He was getting a bit, well fast for me! But at least that meant he was doing his nice floaty trot!
Here goes!

Here the lady said 'oh your a nice cheeky boy' and yes don't I know it!!!

Ginger Thing just to demonstrate that I don't go to loads of 'posh places' with fancy arenas - from the dressage back in May/June time!

IT was a miracle to get him clean, lives out 24/7 all year round. YO wouldn't let me bath him as it was too cold!!!! Lot of hard work with rubber curry comb, dandy brush and body brush!! I was covered in white hair as he is now coating out!
Washed the feathers and put some of that absorbine show shine stuff on, put the thermatex leg wraps on and left them on! He looked really silly. Didn't take a picture I'm afraid. The next morning however, when I took them off and brushed them out they were like silk, not the usual fluffy mess!:D
