In last nights lesson I rode Murphy for the second time.
It started out well, he had been in the lesson before so was nicely warmed up. I had a much better idea of what to expect (plus I had my body protector on this time :)).
But things got complicated, it started to thunder. Eric didn't like this at all and went for a bit of a bronk. Murphey became much more alet (head up, ears pricked) but he didn't feel unsafe.
Then the rain came down and we went in to the barn. Murphy found this a bit too exciting, again nothing dagerouse, just lots of looking round, flaring nostrils and taking little prancy steps.
He began to settle, but then the rain became so heavy that it started running down the mesh on the open side of the barn and he really didn't like that, now there was walking sideways and backwards to cope with. So lots of talking to him and stroking his neck. Again nothing dangerouse (no bolting, bucking or jumping sideways), but it was obviouse he was very unsure of the situation.
By the end of the lesson I was knackerd! The thing I did notice was he is much better on the right rein than the left.
Anyway he might not be my favorite new horse any more because another new horse turned up and it is an Appaloosa :D, I cant wait to ride her, she looks really nice, and she has lotts of spots too :D
