Ok I got it!
You click the multi-quote icon in each post that you want to quote, and it turns red to show you've selected that post. Then click the usual "post reply" icon, and your reply comes up with the selected posts already there at the top as quotes. Add your comments in between!

Thanks everyone - yes, I found out: the trick is to click the icon first, then the text you want to quote.

Ok I got it!
You click the multi-quote icon in each post that you want to quote, and it turns red to show you've selected that post. Then click the usual "post reply" icon, and your reply comes up with the selected posts already there at the top as quotes. Add your comments in between!
