Ok, here's the thing; my pony and I both know English, I have have been riding english for about 8 years now. My pony previously was taught a tiny bit of western; but lacks experience in the following areas:

Neck reining
Lopeing
and the one where they stop suddenly...

Yes- I'm just as green as him in the western part. I am just desperate to do western!!! Lol

So any tips on training him are hugely appreciated!

Thank you very much. :p :D

I'd be a bit wary of the sliding stop especially if I were a novice,I'm sure it puts a lot of strain on their hind legs.
I should get a good instructer before attempting to ride western(advice from a complete beginner:D )

Lopeing is pretty much the same thing as a canter, aint it?
Western you usually neck rein, depending on your ability, It comes with time.
You dont need to do competitive things, you can just pluck around the yard for pleasure.
With western you leave your legs down lower so that you can still put your heels down, but you have less bend in your knees.
