Hi,
when I have left school I would like to become a farrier, and an equine dentist, so I was wondering what kind of qualifications I would have to get to become these, if not both then definatly a farrier. Also where would I have to go like collage or something.
Please help.

Go on a forging course, you will need to take bits and bobs you've made with you for the interview to get to do the farrier's course. Learn to weld and how to forge and make things first.

If you can convince them you have what it takes you should get a place with a training master who will train you up alongside the college course doing the paperwork and theory.

Get hold of the farriers registry 01733 319911 they will tell you all you need to know. I tell you now it's very, very hard work, you need the patience of a saint and the bedside manner of the best surgeon in the world, good luck, there are a growing number of lady farriers out there.

The lass who teaches me did a shoeing competition with the only other lady farrier on her course, they beat all the blokes hands down!
