I moved yards at the weekend and I was amazed by the horse a couple of stables away.
There's an arab stallion called Amir.
My jaw dropped when I saw him working in the arena. I've never seen a horse move so fast in my life!!! Are they faster than tb's?
He was being free schooled or maybe just playing with his owner. The speed that he galloped up to the fence was out of this world and the way he stopped dead & turned was so unlike anything I've ever seen before.
I own a Clydesdale x and the two breeds really are a million miles apart!

YUP!!! My mare can easily out run my friend QH, and two of my other friends have had TB's that have been outpaced by my little girl...Arabitis is a contagious disease, but I love the breed now, and can't easily switch to another horse. Lovely temperaments as well, and loyal, and one rider horses..I love em!!!

you'll never know until you ride one...amazing experience, I was blown away when I first sat on my girl, and it just gets better...I still love the feeling of flying at full gallop down a field, with the wind in my face, and laughing my head off, never fails to make me feel better!

yep, they sure are first and very nimble, can turn on a sixpence and accelerate really fast, they are really good for adapting to pony club games becuase of this.

on one of my Riding lessons last year just before xmas we played some games. I was on my arab and she was brilliant, only problem was that she wouldn't let you dismount at speed! she was 28 at the time and for 24 of those years she was taught that the rider must stay on board, everytime i went to dismount in canter she would do a flying change to ping me back into the saddle, :D they are brilliant but at 28 it is too late to change her ways. My RI was very surprised at her ability, but, she is an arab!

I've been watching him again tonight......:)
He's so well trained too. I think he's fairly young - I'll have to ask his owner.
I wish I could free school my horse like that. They were in the big school and the loverly horsie was trotting and cantering 20m circles as if he was on a lunge line.
When I went to put my Logic in the field and walked past he did get a little distracted though (did I mention he's a stallion).
I did wonder if he was going to jump over the arena fence and have his wicked way with my pony

Was it you that posted pics of riding in Egypt?
I tried it with my daughter in August. Sadly we were both scared silly and had to cancel the ride :o
SO, watching them is as far as my involvement with Arabs is likely to go!!
I've moved yards recently booboo - I'm now at Raikes Hall Livery Yard. The horse in question is called Amir, he's only 3 or 4 years old. Just lightly backed - his owner dosn't ride - just shows in-hand - quite high level though I'm told (owner is called Mark).
He really is spectacular to watch :)
