If anyone has any tips on fun things I can do with her let me know. Were doing the basics But I want to vary it and put games in. I've promised her and her sister they can play horse "tag" next week - walk and trot only. We used to really go for it when I was a kid!!
No jumping or trotting poles as Dinky has never jumped. His previous owner showed him doing dressage only. I tried jumping him once and he thought "no way" and stopped then pricked his ears forwards and thought "what the hell" and took a hugh cat leap over it. I think we need to improve his jumping technique a bit!!

Dinky is 21 (nearly 22) but acts about 7! He's ace but a right scaredy cat. His show name is Knock on Wood. If I'd have picked his stable name I'd have called him Woody but he already came with it. The only other thing he answers to is "din dins"!! Like all he thinks with his belly!

What with being someone with who the 'games' passed me by, what exactly is happening in 'Thread the Needle' - I can pretty much guess what's happening in the others (even if you won't catch me doing any! :p I leave it to Lauren methinks! :D ).
I take it the reason for the high-viz jackets is because you took them out on a hack on some country lanes after you finished your lesson?

oh dear i had to expain this one to leane and it's hard!!
right you keep your left foot in the stirrup and take your right foot out, you then put you right foot over the top of your horse neck as if you were doing around the world (pic 2)
then with your left knee you have to move this away from the saddle, (still in the stirrup), and tuck your right foot into the gap so you have your right foot between the saddle and your left knee, then with one swift manoverue, you push your leg all the way though, grap on to the mane with your left hand, and you find yourself, standing up facing the horse, (on him!!) and then you just put your right leg over again!!

Have fun! My insructor hacked Norman and Thomas today, she led Thomas. She got on Norman (who is 17.2hh) in the stables and when she ducked under the roof bit, I thought she was going to bang her head! :D But she didn't and set off with Tom in tow! :D Norman in 8 but he was broken and turned away again , he's a bit slow and really acts like 5, but he's such a sweetie!
soz getting carried away there! :)

Hmmm, I would like to do some "horsey games". It seems like here in the US, not many of the "Round the World" or "Thread The Needle" are done. I would like to also play some horsey tag. I have only done that once but it was a lot of fun. We did that during lunchtime at a show, to stop our nerves from bouncing around. Anyway, that "Thread The Needle" sounds quite complicated, I'm sure it's not but still, lol. :D
