Does anyone have a connie? Pics would of course be great;)
Do they come in 2 types? the more sporty fine ones and the more traditional chunky ones?

No...but i want one :(. I think you can get several types.
You get those like this (http://www.connemara-pony.de/wCaraway_fuer_Titel.jpg) yet you also get the finer ones like this (http://www.poney-connemara-france.com/comp.jpg).

I love their colouring, if i had the money i would get a nice connie showjumper. The only problem is most are slightly too small for my long legs . I want a connie x TB that i can event later in life :).

i had a connie cross as a first pony and she was brilliant except she had a lot of cheek and knew all the tricks of the trade as she was an ex-riding school pony. she was quite chunky although i know you can get finer connemaras.

There are some great pics of some connemaras on this website http://www.lanburnconnemaras.co.uk/Clifden/Clifden2005/index.htm

Google "connemara" for more pics

there is always some variation within breeds - they're not clones - but there shouldn't be a definite and noticeable split within the breed.

I know breeds arent clones, just wondering if there were types to the breed, as with Tbs, you have your chunky national hunt racers, and your finer flat racers.
I googled connies, there seems to be the connies that jump that are the sport pony type, that are finer, and the more heavyset connies that are used for showing, tho there are a few finer types in showing.

Two of my friends had connies both registered and one was really chunky and the other was fine. The chunky one did really well in showing and the fine one didn't so maybe there is a preferance(sp) too.

Kira isn't pure connie but crossed with tb, here are some pics:

She's a 15.1hh 9yr old mare

She has the typical connie qualities: jumps like a stag, lovely natured, bombproof, will turn a foot to any discipline and will jump anything you put her at, i would recommend anyone to own one, both beginners and experienced riders!

We have a connemara X she is 20 years old and still winning dressage classes and veteran classes but has lost her enthusiasm for jumping. At 14.2 she is capable of carrying my daughter who is now 24. In her young days she was very fast X-country and has done all PC and RC activities, but she gets cross if you don't handle her as she feels is appropriate.

Murphy is a connie x TB. He is stubborn as anything to school, but the BEST hack ever, and loves his jumping :D
