My vet is going to book my horse into Ian Wright at Newmarket for a bone scan and maybe other tests - She had a fetlock sprain and has not recovered as expected, She has been scanned but nothing significant on that or an earlrier x ray has shown up. Has anyone had there horse at Newmarket for this? - just would like to know what to expect - I have been told she will be there for about 3 days.
Thanks

Ian Wright saw my horse a few months ago for his fetlock problem (annular ligaments). He recommended surgery and Dan went to Newmarket from Tue morning to Sat morning - had surgery on the Wed although Matt Smith did it as Ian was on holiday. Very impressed with their yard and care. 2 of their interns are guys from my year at uni and Matt was a surgeon there while I was there.

Hi Star
How did Dan get on, and how are things now? Did they tell you what the long term outcomes would be?

we're still on box rest and in-hand walking. i start ridden walking in 2wks time. trotted him in-hand today and he looked ok but difficult to see as i was leading him too - definitely looks better than before he went though. longterm is difficult in him - he's 20 already and i did say to them i'd be happy if he just came sound enough to be retired, although they were hopeful i'd be able to ride him again.

we have had ours in a small penned area outside - but I have to say it looks very sad for her as she has so little room and she is only 4..We have done know work with her since June. Very difficule isnt it .....she hates the vet now even with 2 sedatives, twitch and chain we struggled with her to keep her still for the scan - cant blame her after all the injections etc she has had..

well, mine's actually in a little pen outside most of the day coz he goes nuts stabled, but he's still miserable. he hasn't worked since the end of April and he's bored stiff. he's awful with vets too - cant twitch him anymore coz he just throws himself around until it comes off - he has to be sedated for everything and just getting that in is a complete mission.

A friend of mine has been very pleased with the service that she got from Ian Wright and Newmarket. Even though the outcome was her horse being PTS..

well we just got ours back and the diagnosis is Navicular in both front feet - and only 4 years old too - so we are giving her longer term field rest and going barefoot to see if DR Green helps here - very sad all this .................
