I spray it on my horse's feet, it's great for treating thrush & mild white line mankiness. Cheapest place I've found is Morrisons, it's about 90p for 500ml I think. Don't know how much you pay, if you can get it cheaper please let me know!

I bought some in Asda but it was REALLY vinegary compared to the equine one I was using. So I bought some apple juice to dilute it and thus it turned out to be false economy.... :o

Depends where you're buying it from ... I haven't heard of an equine version .. .it's just unfiltered cider vinegar. Round here, I get it from the local supermarket, but I'll only buy the one from the healthfood section, because otherwise it's filtered chemical nasty junk. The healthfood section one is unfiltered, so it contains the 'mother' - the yeasty deposits in the bottom, which is the really good stuff. I pay $2.50 for a bottle of it .. Hmmm.... that's probably quite expensive ! You could homebrew it from a kit for about 10p a pint and that would be better stuff too.

I found buying it in bulk from horse places cheaper than Tesco or wherever, I pay about £1 for 500ml in tesco and a gallon from the horse place was about £6, though if you are lucky enough to have access to Costco or anywhere like that you can pick up huge drums for next to nothing.

I used to pay £8 for a 5 litre carton that would last up to 2-3 months. I know costco have drums of olive oil, but never seen cider vinegar there.

I found it in a local catering wholesale place so I figured you would get it in Costco, we often get our oil there too.

We go through cider vinegar like no tomorrow, and get it for free! Homemade with apples from the trees. even when we ran out one summer, buy cheapey apple juice, mix with some commecial cider vinegar, and cheap apples and follow a cider recipe. It is like a ginger beer tree, once you get the mix going just keep draining off the cider vinegar and feeding it with more raw ingredients.

It really is great for stiffness. I give it to my elderly 26 year old Fell pony and it has made a lot of difference to him - keeps the old joints moving nicely!

How much does everyone give? I give just 25 mls a day and use the Hilton Herbs cider vinegar.
