Starting to think about getting some winter forage in as the grass stocks are starting to get low. Not sure whether to go with hay (locally £2 a bale for good quality) or get some haylage. Don't really know much about it though, can anyone give advice and also, how much do you pay for it and where do you get it from. I have looked at a place near Market Rasen (lincs) but they only do it in 150kg or 300kg bales and you have to use a bale in a week once it's opened (I only have 1 horse and apparently they only eat 8-10kg a day).

I would buy small bales of either haylege or hay- My got through a small bale of haylege a day so it would not go off if it lasted you 3.

If you only have one then stick with hay.
I pay 25 (i think) per HUGE bale this lasts around 7-10 days between two horses living in at night and two days of the week (mabey more depending on the weather)
Ours also get haylage as they do alot through the winter and hay is not as good as there will not be enough grass.
You could share with a few people though if you could?
