A NR screensaver coming soon

This is a chance to make your horse famous!!!!
The company I work for produce screensavers for sports/special interest fans/participants to download. I have tentatively suggested to Mike that I could get them to produce one for NR :D

This would be free to download from the NR homepage and we're trying to come up with content that you're all going to like. Unlike other screensavers ours will change/update regularly, so you'll constantly get new images/info which will be horsey related - all without having to lift a finger.

Some of the images I've suggested so far are:


Breed Showcase
NR Member horse of the month
Poisonous plant - images and how to spot
cutest pony
hacking photos from around the world
guide to 'bits'
money saving tips
Road safety tips
etc etc


The service will be free to download and will be funded by a small number of ads (less than 4 normally) and if you don't agree you don't have to download...

SO, this is where you come in... In order to make this screensaver as relevant, educational and informational as possible, I'll need some help organising the content for my company (they're not the most horsey literate)
I need the following

GOOD QUALITY/HIGH RESOLUTION images of horse breeds, i.e Welsh Sec. D, TB's, Shetlands etc

GOOD QUALITY/HIGH RES images of your horse/pony if you'd like him/her to feature on the NR Horse/pony of the month page

You must own the copyright to the photos, so no cutting and pasting of images belonging to others or from other webpages/sources and images do need to be of good quality as they will be fitting across your entire screen.

I'd welcome anyone's input into this and all help greatfully appreciated. In the first instance if you could post the links to your photos (with the category you are supplying) and we'll start collecting some of the best photos. Feel free to PM me if you're not happy posting.

Do we have to own the horses in the photos? The copyright isn't an issue for me (at least I don't think) but none of the photos I have that would be useful to you are my horses (since I don't have one...)

I'll let you all know as soon as this is up and running (next day or so). I'm just trying to gauge involvement at this stage. I think the best idea might be to let me know on this thread whether you want to submit a photo/s for a category and then we can determine how much content there is going to be.

Horseygal - you need permission of whoever owns the photograph AND the horse if they are not your own. Sorry about this, but we don't want lots of complaints from owners :p

Please can you make sure of the following:


Pictures are high resolution/good quality
You must state the category that they fit into as your e mail title (i.e. for Breed Showcase: make your e mail title: Breed Showcase:Welsh Section D or TB (or whatever breed your horse is) Cutest pony, Hacking terrain across the world, examples of colours etc, i.e. palomino, piebald etc
That you either own the horse or have permission from whoever does own the horse to publish the photo
That you own the copyright on the photo (or have permission from who does)


Can you PM me if you have any questions about this, or post on here, rather than fill up this newrider address with questions.

Once we have got a suitable number of photos etc, we will make this into a screensaver for you all to download. This will them update itself regularly with new photos etc, giving you a sort of horsey magazine which will be free, nice to look at and hopefully educational too.

If any of you have any specialist knoweldge in any aspect of horse care or equestrian activity then please let me know as you may be able to submit content for your own page :D

you need to go to control panel,. add/remove programs and uninstall it. i had the same thing.
