I haven't been on in a very long time. The last time I posted I just started to cantor 5 years after a bad fall. The prevous barn had a horse who was helping me relearn to cantor. Well he was becoming more, and more difficult to ride. I decided I had enough, I felt I was thowing money down a deep dark hole. So went shopping for a new barn, and found one. First ride was an evaluation ride to see what I knew. First lesson was to push my buttons to see how I would react. Both good so far. Second lesson  on line and to the cantor. I was on vacation, and gone for a week. Third lesson did some work to to stretch out and back on line for the cantor. This past week after the stretching and warm up,back on line for the cantor. My husband said the instructor would start by the second lesson. He is prediciting I will be off line and all over the arena before Chirstmas. The cantor isn't pretty yet, but I'm not scared any more and I'm smiling :D while I'm hearing the instructions. I should probably remember to breath now and again, but I'm sure that will come

Congrats! Cantering can certainly be an unsettling gait, especialy if you have taken a good fall while at it. I was reading an interesting article in Perfect Horse a few months back - they estimated that almost 25% of adult riders never go faster then a trot due to fear of the higher gaits! The whole article was based on getting over that fear.

Great acheivements for you! You will probably find it a cake walk once off the lunge line - oh yes the breathing part will actually REALLY help I would actually try concentrating on it!

Best of luck!
