Megan got through the leccy fencing - again - yesterday aft between me leaving her at midday and 5pm when I returned to the yard. Do you know, not one b*gger put her back through for me even though they know the situation and one of their ponies is in with her for the same reason
She looked like a Zeplin when we got there  Although we could hear normal bowel sounds I was so worried she'd get colic; I'm afraid I got in a bit of a state about it as the grass is extremely long, lush and green on the other side of the leccy:o
I returned in the pitch dark to our unlit yard at 8pm and got DH to aim the car headlights in the general direction of her stable so I could check she was ok. She seemed ok, a little irritated at being rudely awoken but not colicky... she eventually kissed me goodnight.
The irony is that I spent the entire night sitting bolt upright with severe heartburn.
DH phoned me on his way to work to say he'd driven past and noticed she's got her head over the stable door looking around and appears to be fine  *phew*... I know somebody who's going to be on restricted grazing today in her STABLE! Houdini had nuffink on my pony
I'm knackered but I do wonder whether my baby had a tummy ache too :o

Oh naughty Megan!
Do you have a charge running through the fence, Loki is so artful as soon as he knows his fence isn't working he is through it  but not brave enough to try it when it is on. I can't believe no one put her back for you
Hope your colic is better ;)

oooh Imp, hope she's ok after her escapade.
is she on restricted grazing because she's a good doer or lami?

Teabiscuit: she's what I'd phrase as an excellent doer and I'm afraid this time of year coupled with the grass looking all tufty and inviting the other side of the electric fence is too much for her when she's stuck in her little fat girl's starvation paddock

Not so strange, When my horse was lame with arthritis in her right pastern, I had what I thought was arthritis in my right hand, which disappeared the day she died.

What a naughty girl  No wonder you had heartburn , you must have been worried sick.
Last time I wormed the boys, I was terrified I'd read the weight tape wrong and overdosed them :o can you die from too much wormer ? anyways they survived:p

it is a bit strange Imp and Colettybetty, says the lady who talks to cows :D
chinarider she had no symptoms what so ever, not even a bit of the runs :) was very relieved, they must have huge safety margins on them!

How very odd Imp.... and very coincidentally - I had a day of suffering on Tuesday. The last time I got indigestion/heartburn was about 3 years ago but Tuesday I suffered from 10am through til about 6.30 - someone recommended Gaviscon and I got through over half a bottle and it didn't touch it.... I thought I might be having a heart attack.. :o :o :o

Funny that, I also drank the best of a bottle of Gaviscon overnight; DH went out in the wee small hours to get it for me bless him :p Didn't touch it for me either! The pain is awful, it goes through your chest into your shoulder, then up and into your jaw. I tell you if it had been on my left I'd have been off to A&E pronto screaming 'heart attack, heeellllp!!!!' [any medically qualified folk out there need not worry about women having heart attack pain on the right; I do occasionally suffer from such heartburn, but generally after a curry - not grass  ]
Megs is fine today thankfully :) We've turned her out with others in a large area that has been well grazed. The plan is tomorrow she stays out overnight. This is a first for me with Megs and I feel a bit squeaky about it; DH asked if I'd sleep at night with her out in the elements (he knows me so well) :o

tip for heartburn/indigestion- drink peppermint cordial or eat lots of mint imperials. Works for me everytime.

My vet recommended that I keep the peppermint flavored "Gas-X" in my tack box and feed 10 of them to my mare if I ever get in the situation you were - worried that she may colic. He actually suggested I just use them as treats, too, if she likes them.
Might be worth it to pick some up so you don't have to be up colicking yourself all night next time.

Good idea Newnovice, we use rennies with some success for cribbers, makes sense to give them to a colicky horse, though I'd check with vet always first, of course.
