You know hat I'd do with that?
Can you get Pevidine over where you are? It's an Iodine scrub, it looks like runny brown treacle, it foams up if you mix it with water.
I'd get a bit of gamgee and pour some "Pevidine" on it and mix some honey or sugar in with it to a gucky thick paste, slap it on and poultice it for 24 hours.
When you peel it off next day it will peel off any of that guck and leave a pink, clean wound with no debris around the wound.
This is what we did with Winnie's leg, and it healed really quickly and well.
repeat a few times if necessary and it will clean it up and aid it's healing. ASk the vet if he can get you Pevidine or the similar make of stuff.

Thats for that Wally:),I don't think we have Pevidine over here but I am sure I should be able find something similar.

Betadine. It's also an iodine solution, i believe. Put on a pair of gloves and get a few gauzes and pour a bunch of the Betadine onto the gauze. It should look yellow-ish. And then scrub. It sounds painful but it doesn't seem to be an open wound, so just scrub it for a bit until it comes off and you should be left with a pink, clean wound like Wally said. You don't need to wash it off.

I agree with what's said. The honey will help tons. Proud flesh is nasty stuff, and it's always good to get the gunk and debris out. It'll reduce the scarring by alot.

It was our vet who gave me the recipe, the sugar or honey sets and peels the gunk off, like a leg wax! ;)
