My mom got me a parelli bareback pad for my birthday. Sadly, I don't know how to get it on a horse :o

There's two long leather straps on each side. I think this may be so you can choose which side of the horse to cinch it, but I may be wrong.

I was thinking I take one off, put an off billet in its place (http://www.statelinetack.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441773656&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302029169&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302024175&bmUID=1160852011225&itemNo=0&Ntt=billet&In=Horse&previousText=billet&N=156695) put a cinch on it, and then just rig it up like a western saddle. Would this work?

But if you do have a parelli bareback pad, how did you get it on your horse? :p

Thanks :)

I think it is designed to use a ring girth rather than a buckle girth. It would be done up the same way as you would if you were using latigos on a western saddle or some Australian stock saddles.

Like this......

http://parelli.parellinet.net/files/instructions/tying_cinch.pdf

You will see the knot is a bit like doing up a neck tie, like the top ring on this saddle rigging. Because your strap is already attached to the pad you would do this knot on the girth ring i.e. wind the strap around itself and thread through top and down.

I hope this has helped.
