I went to the feed shop yesterday to get some Hi-Fi lite for Curly and they were out of stock, Good do-er (and she is one) was on offer at £7 and came with a free measuring bucket so i got a 20kg bag of that instead, are they basically the same thing?

Hi CWR,
I would say they are basically the same thing. I havn't actually tried either though. I use Graze On. Its really good, has no mollasses in it, and is really good quality dried grass. A bag lasts forever!

Anyway, are you going to tell us how you have got on this weekend, or are you keeping everyone in suspence?! How has she settled in etc?

I've just tried too, and it seems to have dissapeared:rolleyes: . I wanted to update it anyway. Its just a pic of my boy when he was a babe. Will have to sweet talk the husband to sort it out. I'm useless at all this stuff:p
Here is another one anyway

I think you should give us daily updates, otherwise it will take you all night on Friday!!

good point.but im off college on friday (half term!!! rock on :D) so i have alll day (apart from stable time ;)) t'will be my first ride on Friday i think. trying to let her absorb all the new stuff slowly.

ahem, im on topic here, honest :P
the general concensus seems to be that they are the same - which begs the question, why are they marketed as different things?

Hi-fi lite is very low mollases so it's good for fizzy or lamanitc horses if is basicslly chopped straw and alfalfa. Good Doer is a complete feed that has added vitamins and minerals and if you feed it at the reccomended amounts (i.e the bucket measurement -think it's 2kg which is a LOT) then you don't need to feed anything else (supplement wise). It has a fair amount of mollases in it though so not suitable for fizzy's or laminatics.

If she's not affected by feeds nor lamintic and you are going to feed the full amount (i.e a huge bucket every night) then Good doer would work well. But if you're just giving a token feed than you'd be better off with HI-fi lite. But one bag isn't got to matter. And now you have a free measuring bucket;)

I thought it was the Hi Fi that had mollasses and the Good Doer, which is a very dry, chaffy feed, didnt have any mollasses.

Similar but not the same. If the horse was lamanitic it would a very important difference.

It's definintly the Good Doer with the straight molasses in it, which makes it unuitable fo lamanitics and those whom molasses fizzes up. But if Curly isn't lamianitc (which I don't think she is:confused: ) not bothered by hard feeds much then it won't matter.
