I got on my horse:D :D :p
(Anyone who missed the story and now thinks - yep, so what:p - here 'tis

He's cleared by the vet to be ridden from this week - tonight, he was out in his little field, and I had no intentions of getting on. But there was this overwhelming urge that came from no-where; I grabbed my hat and a handy friend, plus his rope halter and went up to him.....Led him into a teeny paddock, and knotted the rope on the other side of the halter...did some patting/leaning around the saddle area...bemused friend gave a leg up - and I was on:D
Hmm - went as expected:p Monty was horrified at this new state of affairs - 'Mum, what are you doing - we gave up on this stuff weeks ago' - started tensing, scuttled sideways, put his head to the floor, and his coward of a mother leapt off the side, rope in hand, expecting a big explosion! Minor setback though you'll be relieved to know; got straight back up, he (and I:p ) was a lot more settled, still a little twitchy, but we had a little turn around the paddock (making sure friend stayed in grabbing distance!), then got brave, opened the gate and rode him the couple of hundred yards to the barn:D
So happy! I was actually more scared than I'd admitted to myself. He's a huge amount improved now, but for years, he was still the same terrified, unhandled 3 year old I bought - likely to explode at any minute. He's still my little ball of energy and always will be, but I know he can contain himself these days - just need to remember that myself!
This week - few more bareback 5-10 mins, back check, saddling and moving around (riderless) for a couple of days, then short rides with tack is the plan - will keep you posted! (and pics - I know, sorry! But today was unexpected, honest!):)
