I know of two App crosses that have short mains and tails why is this

A lot of the typey Appaloosas have very short manes and tails. It's entirely possible for that trait to be passed along when crossing an App with another breed.

Its really just a trait in appy's, All of the apps I know have short, thin, manes and tails. Its a common thing for it if the horse is an app.
