I'm really worried about my colt. I've noticed he has wrinkles between his forelegs and chest (the front) these wrinkles seem really sore and scabby, i've also noticed he has tons of scurff around his chest, also his hind legs at the front above the fetlock joint it seems quite red and scabby. Any ideas what this could be? My other colt is fine.

The thing is, we're still getting him used to being handled so its quite difficult getting a good luck at his hind legs. Any ideas for something i can put in his feed to help? He's wormed to date and has been flea'd with frontline several times!! I'm worried, he seems quite misearable too!!:(

My filly gets the scurfy bit between her front legs, hers is due to the flys (yep we still have tons) irritating her, it is especially noticable between her front legs as the fur and skin is so fine there.
If you can get some nice soothing cream on it you should notice a difference pretty quickly if its that.

I wonder if those back legs could be the same thing, but as he can reach it he is chewing on it to itch it??? which is making it raw and sore :(

Could this be an allergy to the frontline:confused: . Can you overdose on frontline?
Or, if the skin is really dry, I don't know if horses get ecsma (sorry, can't spell it!) Maybe the skin is cracking due to it being so dry?
Some forms of sarcoids can be flat, dry and scabby too.

I used to get someone to hold up a front leg, so that I could deal with the back legs;)

I think I would add lots of oil to his feed to improve his skin, and put Sudocrem or Zinc and Caster Oil on the sore bits.
If that doesn't work I think I'd ask a vet to take a look

Hmm, Shannon had this scabby chest thing a couple of months ago. I put it down to mites, after doing a bit of research, and treated it with Spot On (dog variety), also washed and disinfected all brushes and soaked them in bleach so not to spread it around.

It cleared up fine. However, I would have expected Frontline to work too... so I don't know
