We have had computer problems, but we are now back online!

We had a big day out yesterday. Four of us went on a Pleasure Ride away from the yard.

Sounds quite ordinary but it was a HUGE challenge for Pi and me. When I got him 6 months ago, I was told that he didnt load and had to be sedated on the only two times he travelled. As he was then in a yard 5 mintues from where I keep him that didnt matter.

However, I tried him in a trailer last week and although he sttod at the bottom of the ramp for ages, he did walk on quite calmly!

Yesterday was a bit different and he reverted to his "I am not sure I like this so I'll trot off over here and I dont care about the human on the end of the lead rope" syndrome.

We persevered ( well, my friends did - I was a wreck by now!) and he loaded and off we went. He wasnt even hot when we got to the venue and we had a really great time. Loading on the way back took 10 mins and a couple of token drags, but nothing too bad. I am hoping that if Pi learns that loading means a trip, a nice party and then a trip home to a snuggly bed and lots of hay, he will calm down.

Anyway, I am so proud of both of us this morning (despite the bruises and stiff knees) and our ever first rosette for completing the ride is in pride of place in the sitting room!

Congratulations! :) He's definitely making progress. A small suggestion, don't just practice loading when you need to go somewhere. Get him in there on a random day using treats, and then give him his food (a bucket of grain or something) while he is in the trailer. Don't rush things; I think you're doing wonderfully with him so far! Are there any photos of this dashing Pi?

Thanks FreedomStar. Yes thats my next plan, just to make it something that happens from time to time, no big deal.

Photos will come - I have replied to the Imp thread about "ear photos" and how she is my hero!

We have been having big computer problems and I dont want to risk photos just yet!

WOOHOO!! Well done janhebb and Pi :D That's fantastic news, and very promising for his future travel ventures!
An ear shot will be great jh, but *ahem* surely you can supply us with a small Pi reminder in the meantime?! :p
