Hello there, I am new.
I would like to buy some Mark Rashid DVDs.
Has anybody seen them ? Do you like them? Which one would you get first?
I am thinking of the ground driving first, as I am not riding right now ( broke my back after a fall).
So Please let me know what you think. Or send me to others threads if this has already been discussed.
Thanks

I adore Mark Rashid - he is my favourite trainer ever. However I have to be honest and say I much prefer his books, and seeing him in person to the DVDs which I find a touch on the boring side.

Lili,
first: sorry about your back!
I think you should buy the ground driving dvd ... and then let me know if I should buy it, too ;)

Hi Lili,
Echo Karin about your back
I have the 'understanding footfall' dvd - it's really interesting, but I agree with Showjumper, not any thing like seeing him in person, it's a bit repetitive and a little 'cheesy'! I think it wouldn't have made so much sense if I hadn't seen him at clinics so many times. Still very much worth a watch though, he makes some really good points.
Definitely recommend all of the books though, if you haven't read them - plus there's a new one out this month:D

:o I have "footfall" (currently on loan to raingodz ;) ), "finding the try" and "ground driving 101"
I think my favourite is the footfall one, tho it can be repetitive - but just for the section on why you shouldn't have your legs tight to the horse...
finding the try - I have a horrible feeling I have not watched this all the way through  Its an older video, transferred to DVD, and I didn't feel it was so well produced.
Ground driving is (if I remember right) all in a round pen, but interesting none the less. And if you are not riding, will be the most easily applicable. ;)

Thnaks very much for your reply!
I think I will save my £££, to go to one of his clinic
My experince of horsey DVDs are that only a few are well made ... they are often boring and cheesy .
Oh well, I hope to go to one of Mark's clinic!
I have read all his books too.

the last UK clinic I went to, near London, the person sat next to me had flown over from Germany !
And I thought I would be the furthest travelled (over than Mark and team), coming down from Scotland

Hi Lili,
I don't know how mobile you are at the moment, but just wanted to let you know in case you'd missed it and are able to get there, that Mark and team are back in the UK in two weeks :D - details on www.amandabarton.co.uk. And he won't be back until 2008:( So if you can, then come along to one of the 3 this year. I'll be riding at Hursbourne, and spectating at Kingswood this year:) , would be nice to meet you...
Edited to add - Oops. just noticed you're in Italy - not so easy then :-(

Have now watched it all
The DVD takes the form of what you might expect if you were to go to one of his clincs (I have never been to one, but I imagine it would be).
It seemed to be quite basic, but then I realised it wasn't, it was just he has a really good way of explaining things. Some of the things were things I knew, and some were things I thought I should have known.
At the end of the day this DVD is quite specificly aimed at feeling how the horse moves and how the ride should work with this not against it, which I think is something we all know but it is good to see it being presented in such an easy to understand way.

Oh, you have all convinced me
I am going to order the footfall DVD, as I was working on this type of work with my mare, before my fall.
My christmas list is getting bigger every day :D
