I found this in '201 handy hints for horse persons' its how to make your own rug from an old sleeping bag which can be used under another rug or under NZ rugs on cold days!
* remove the zip and cut out a semi-circular section at one end (it maybe best to trace round a well fitting rug) then stitch round the edges and add a coloured binding if you wish, use strips of velco for breast straps or buy rug 'fittings' from your local saddler!
*personiise your rugs by making letters out of felt them stitching them on to the corner or buy 'hot press' letters from needlecraft shops!
* keep out/out grown rugs so that you can use the material to repair rips in other rugs!
