Okay, even if this thread yields nothing but some encouragement, I am good with that!!!

So I thought I would take my appy mare for a nice long ride yesterday and the whole event started and ended wrong!! I go get Sugar, who did not want to have anything to do with me...that should have been my first clue. I tied her up as usual, saddled her and when I went to bridle her (which normally goes effortlessly) she pulled back and ran away...RAN AWAY!!!!! When I got her back to the rail, she would not put her head down and bridling was very difficult. The ride was okay,...but she walked VERY fast and the way home was quite unpleasant. It was like she was barn sour.

When we got HOME...I brought her back to the rail and when I went to remove the bridle...she TOOK OFF AGAIN!!!! :( What the heck!!! I was shocked because she is normally NOT like this.

At the beginning of Sept. we rescued an appy baby from a lady who could not care for him and he is about 1 1/2 years. I have kept them seperate, with play time allowances. When I get home with Sugar, she always gets tied to the rail before being put away......WHAT IS HAPPENING!!!

When things like this happen I want to sell her...but I love her. I just get sooo frustrated that I get paid to ride other horses (very meger pay..but hey, its horses!!) that are perfect and then I come home to THIS!!!

I will never have enough money for lessons or training....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I guess I just had to get that out of my system.

Okay guys, do with me what you will!!! :)

Gosh.....don't get frustrated :D It's always something with horses huh? Keep smiling and don't panic:eek: ;) I have a twenty five year old who is a real gentleman...always behaves. About four months ago we had two new boarders arrive with their horses. I had him, on cross ties and was grooming him. He let me know that he was more interested in the new boarders and their horses...did I listen to him???? hell no!!!!! I thought to myself...Bernard is soooo well trained....I have put a lot of time into his training.....he will be fine. Wrong!!!!!! It was too much for him....If I had been smart? I would have pressed the reset button and turned him out to ride another day....I should have set him up for success,,,not failure:rolleyes: . He was a mad man. Like people...horses have their own agenda....sometimes it is important to show them that they need to stick to our agenda...but on the flip side? Sometimes we need to listen to what is important to them. This may never happen again...(it hasn't happened with my horse ..he is back to being a gentleman) but at least you can now be prepared. Have your reins over her head when you take the bridle off and have your halter ready to put on. Maybe she just wanted to get back to the yard because she felt like she needed to be there.
These things happen....it doesn't mean anything much (in my opinion) .Sometimes you just have to laugh....and formulate a game plan so it doesn't happen again:D
