i am scared of show jumps but not cross country!!

i hardly ever jump above 2 ft with show jumps but always jump 3 ft with cross country!!
isn't it strange i have had a bad accident with cross country ones as well, and cos my horse knows it she flies cross country jumps and often hits showjumps!!

it worries me actually i really should go higher with showjumps, cos i need the practise!!

i did starter stakes once and they got higher and higher and i was sooo worried, in the end we did very well, although we brought down the last big fence, but out of 30 we got 6th!!

but ain't i silly???

it may be because if you are doing cross country you know that you are gallopin most of the time and your horse is enjoying it so it has less time to think about stopping to look at the fences rather than in show jumping you have alot of tight corners and you have to be really controlled and steady - causing your horse to have more time to think about what the fence is really like!! and saying as if i am jumping that - it is blue! that kinda thing maybe?? :D

I bet you have more adrenaline flowing X country, which makes you braver, show jumping you have much more to think about, Jimps will look bigger too in a confined space, out on a course a jump next top a tree will look smaller. I hate show jumping, love X country.

I'm the oposite- cross country terrifies me! Mind you I've never jumped a course of showjumps, but have jumped a cross country course before! (fell of too, maybe thats why I don't like it.:D )
