I need help with Maisy. Shes a good girl and needs a bit of training but thats not anything i cant do and she takes to it well. I was just wondering what you would do to help introduce a horse to a completely indoor school? Shes a bit spooky in there and would like your methods and tips.thanks:)

ETA she could of been spooky because the RAF planes where doing an air show and it was windy outside so the walls were clanging but yeah what are your methods please??

Just ride her through it, dont make a big deal of it, just ignore her spooking.

Do you go in there with other horses? Maybe other horses that are used to it and more calm would calm her down a bit?

Have you tried riding her in there yet? Keep talking to her, calmly and soothingly and also try and distract her from it so she's focusing on you instead- eg lots of transitions, change of directions, bending etc! good luck!

Our new saddle dosn't come till bout sat or sun so i decided id try and get her out of her freshness a bit (hasnt been ridden for bout 2 weeks  ). But then the school was there hence the 'problem'. Theres an out door school too but it was really windy

You could even try join up with her if you're going to free school her! Would be a great way for you to bond from the start!

Walk her round, keep her calm and if possible, take a nice quiet horse in with you and just follow. :)

Just let her wander about un click her lead rope and let her do what she wants.
Stand behind a door or some thing LOL
If she does not spook and just wanders back up to the door, then you know she is not really scared just taking the mik LOL

What we did after the attempted lunge:p is we uclipped the line and i started walking to the stage but she followed me. I then went up the steps and she was confused and didnt understand. She stood there for a while and then started walking around smelling the sand. Then realising that noone was with her she got frightened and started doing firghtened stuff...

If you have to school to yourself, why no take a haynet in there for her to munch, or take her dinner in there or something..?
Maybe you could sit in there and eat your lunch with her too, could help relax her, as long as she doesn't try and nick your sandwiches!!:D
