Well they are super smart horses, they are used a lot in films for trick work and are easily trained. I've seen a few pics of dressage Freisians but I can't remember where, soz. They are really versitile and elegant so I'd imagine they would make excellent horses to do this.

I do believe there are a few friesians doing well at the higher levels of dressage. They are also becoming more and more popular so hopefully we will see even more success in this sport.

Lots of friesians do high levels of dressage - it comes naturally to them as they have andalucian blood in them, and the fact they have a very willing nature and a trainable attitude also helps. I have seen my friesian gelding Nero do a perfect capriole in the field a couple of times while playing and he has never been trained! They should have a nice short back like an andalucian which enables them to be very light and expressive on the forehand and carry thier riders weight on thier hindquarters - which is just what you want for high levels of dressage, they also look good to - although I am biased!!!!:D :p ;) There are quite a few friesian stallions at grand prix level especially in the states and on the continent and they are becoming more and more popular as people see that it is not only warmbloods that can get along way in dressage - after all most continental warmbloods have friesian blood in them to give then expressive paces and they can carry a rider better and more effectivly than most warmbloods.:D

We bought a Frisian mare in th summer for the girls, and what a kind horse she is. I would trust her with my granny (if i had one!). Although she is quiet ,she is no plod either. In her first show in the summer she came 3rd out of 11 and we were over the moon. I have posted a pic of her.

well i had my first lesson on my own horse today it was brilliant:D
i am not the most confident rider and it helped so much, i learned that i am not as bad or unskilled as i thought which has given my zero confidence a real boost , my mare was really good but she doesnt use her hindquarters as much at the moment so she tends to trip up as she is not picking her feet up, also she trots so fast, i need to practice a nice slower controlled trot
which i am going to do ,i have another lesson in about 10 days, so we are going to get practising, also my balance is a bit crap, so going to do lots of no styrups next time:eek:
when i first got her she used to shake her head all the time ,so i had her teeth rasped, they were really bad ,i had to have her sedated and about an hour of the dentists power tools filing away it was horrible, i also changed her bit to a french link from a jointed snaffle and what a difference no headshaking and getting upset i am well chuffed tonight:D

There are friesians that have reached high levels of dressage. It is the discipline I aim to do with Frits. The dutch judge did say that Frits has the potential to reach Z level dressage (not sure what level Z level is:o ) however they did say he will be a good riding horse.
Just because I am an over proud mum here are a couple of pics of Frits:)

Thankyou. He has to show off those assets:D
My sister met him for the first time the other day (she lives in Zimbabwe and was out on holiday) and the first thing she said is "He looks like Bob Marley impersonator, with his mane and forelock and the way he walks, to the beat of his own drum"! Always interesting to see him through someone elses eyes:D
Over the next week or so watch the space in cafe forum as I will share some baby photos, his first foal is on the ground we are now waiting for the second one to be on the ground and I will go and visit them and take piccies. Not going to say more except for WOW:D

Vciky the wait will be worth it(in my opinion anyway;) ) He bred to a friesian warmblood. The same mare was serviced, the foetus from the first serving was transplanted and then the mare was serviced again so foals will be full siblings, excited to see if the 2nd foal will be identical to the first. I say again WOW and stunning........:D
