I own a Fell with a long mane which is a NIGHTMARE to brush. Especially because her favourite hobby is collecting as many twigs as possible in it then really rubbing it well into some mud. Eventually I was sick of trying to do it with a body brush and flimsy mane comb and I saw one of those Oster brushes that look like a human hair brush. I thought WOW, that would work so much better, but out of my price range.
So I went to Poundland and for 2 quid I got 2 hairbrushes and 2 big thick plastic combs with handles... I even managed to get pink for my pony and green for my sister's (those are their colours for everything). It is so so so much easier to brush a long, thick or generally difficult mane with a human hairbrush! Now I use that gently to get the tangles out and use the comb to finish off. A for less than the price of your average vody brush/ curry comb etc. Sure, they're probably not the best quality and won't last forever but a few weeks later they still look new, not even a lost bristle, and at that price who can complain when thy eventually do have to be replaced?! I expect most cheap/bargain shops have them. :D

:D I always wonder why not use a human brush, I end up snapping combs designed for horses..

My RI uses the detangling spray that you use on little kids on horses manes...it works wonders!

I bought Cherry a (human) paddle-style hairbrush from Avon at the beginning of the year and it has been a Godsend for her mane, tail AND her feathers.....

I use a human vented plastic hairbrush and baby oil,the baby oil takes out the tangles and keeps it tangle and mud free for a few days.

I like the Canter mane and tail conditioner - keeps Storms tail tangle free (ish) for a while......

I like the Canter mane and tail conditioner
I use mane and tail spray conditioner as well, but all the spray in the world couldn't tame Lisa's mane (it has a mind of its own). Today I caught her to ride her and went to groom her mane and found she'd managed to twist it into a very interesting plait effect... fortunately I managed to pull it apart with my fingers, last time that happened she'd mananged to get it knotted up so tight I had to cut a chunk off...! :D

I used to ue hairbrushes but they broke her tail hair so now i slog away with LOTS of canter conditioner and a body bruh *whispers* but i do resort to the brush for really bad knots
