Due to being absolutely exhausted yesterday after a major temper tantrum from Moss, my instructor rode Connie. I had a rare chance to see her ridden and she looked lovely. My gawky youngster has filled out and has a proper Welsh Cob deep chest. She was going totally relaxed in a howling gale - really soft and sweet. AND she had her first ever canter under saddle yesterday. Really sweet and smooth and I would not have missed it for the world. Despite being so tired I felt sick I had a broad grin on my face than nothing could have wiped off.

moments like that make it all worth while, don't they. my mare did her first ridden shows last year after being written off by the vet after an accident in 98, and i was walking on air coming out of the ring.

Wow! all your hard work is paying off, and worth all the effort.

I know what you mean about seeing someone else ride her, so far I'm the only one to ride Breeze - I'd love to stand and watch someone else ride her. The nearest I've been was watching a friend lunge her, it was great to watch.

Congratulations with the first canter? Breeze and I haven't got that far yet, (not intentionally if you know what I mean) she sometimes jumps puddles then puts in a couple of strides of canter, but drops straight back down to walk - I think she thinks this is the correct way of avoiding muddy, wet feet!! She obviously has no idea that the first couple of times it happened, I almost had a heart attack!

She sounds a super youngster, no wonder you were beaming :D :D

I know how you are feeling!

I rode my youngster today for the first time ever! It went wonderfully. She is four years old now, and I have had her for three years.

I was so happy that I cried in the car on the way home!
