If we were to breed willow (buckskin) to a black, I know theres chances of the baby being black, buckskin, and a bunch of others. What would the possible colors of the baby be if we bred to a paint? we found a nice paint stud "rachettes ol man" I'll get a link later, and I hope we get something with color :)

Depends on what base colour he is and how many tobiano genes he has. :) If he has one tobiano gene, you've got a 50% chance of tobiano; two tobiano and you're guaranteed a patterned foal.

What colour tobiano depends on what colour genes he's carrying.

There are two types of gene that govern colour in horses. One is colour (whether the horse is black or red to start with, and then whether that is modified to other colours like palomino or buckskin) and one is pattern (the pattern genes are what casues white patches on paints, and spots and blankets on appaloosas, and the way roans look).

So your buckskin mare can pass on colour; but she has no pattern genes to pass on.

The paint sire has both colour *and* pattern; the pattern being the splodges of white on his coat. :)
