Pride's got a big egg shaped lump right on his shoulder.
It's soft and doesn't bother him at all. I asked someone on the yard what it could be but they didn't know, but said he could have knocked himself and it could be bruising but it doesnt seem at all sore. It was quite warm too.

What could it be? What should i do with it? should i call the vet?

Sounds a bit like he got a knock or a prod in the field. Is there a point on it??? Cold hosing will take out the heat and should relieve any swelling. If it doesn't go down after a day or two or gets worse or sore call the vet.

Ditto to the above really, could of waked it on the face or any thing, and just keep cold hosing it.

I'm hoping that's all it is, it's just that it isn't hurting him when i touch/squeeze it and it doesn't look much like a swelling, just a lump. It's hard to explain, but i'll try and get a pic.

Sounds like a similar lump my friends mare had caused by a kick, vet told us to hot and cold compress it (hot flanels held on followed by cold), it went down in a couple of days.

If you have any hibiscrub on hand, hibiscrub on the lump and on the area around it - that will draw out anything that might be in there causing swelling etc. Cold hose until the heat goes :) Hope it goes soon! xx

Only thing I'v ever seen like that was a big reaction to a cleg, and it's hardly the season for them right now.

Would try the hot/cold thing or ice cool gell on it for a bit and reduce the heat.

Keep us updated!!!!

Captain had a huge lump like this. Soft burning hot and didnt bother Captain when I squeezed. I panicked as it was on his windpie and I thought that if I left him it would get bigger and block his airway and he would die whilst I wasnt with him.:o So I went to the YO and asked for her advise. She had never seen anything so big before and didnt know what it was. So I took photo's, came home and put them on here. Everyone calmed me down and told me it was more than likely an insect bite and not to worry. I went back up to him that evening and had a scratch around it. Next day it had a head to it and I felt soo relieved as it was an insect bite. It took a week before it started to reduce in size. See if you can find a scab on it tomorrow. Dont worry too much.
