I am concerned at the moment, when my boy is ridden he is starting to throw his head up at times, he is ridden in a snaffle that i am going to change to a french link see if this helps, but as he is sort of moaning at the same time i am worried it could be a wolf tooth he is 3 and a half years old.

Just looking for a little advice on any other signs to look for

Thank you in advance

if you have a little look in his mouth (if he'll let you!) you'll be able to see and feel if any wolf teeth are coming through, if they are through then get the dentist out they are much better to be removed and its a quick and easy enough procedure :)

I have to agree, the wolf teeth come through just in front of the molers, just pop your finger in there and see if there is a tooth appearing/already there.

When I backed Bo I left his and his behaviour got progresivly worse, with Jess I had hers out even before she was backed.

It is a very simple procedure when done properly :D

also if they are coming through but not enough to be removed, with my old horse when this was the case my dentist recommended that i get some latex bandage to wrap around her bit just to cushion the area

Ive seen that advertised, will look into it depending on what the dentist has to say, poor boy i hope i havent caused him to much pain, but then its only been two rides as i did wonder if he was trying it on somewhat now ill get it sorted before we go any further
Thank you again nice to be able to ask without feeling silly

Just to say I have checked his mouth and also asked his instructor to check his mouth as well and he has two Wolf teeth just starting to come though.

They really are a pain, but best to find them now and get them removed before he gets into a head throwing habbit.
I would advise either going bitless for a while or just giving some time off, horses can get funny about their mouths so quickly if something hurts.
