hi all, I would like to know if you could tell me what is your daily routine for looking after your part livery horsey. ie, when do you get your 'stable person' to first feed your horse/ let it out and what do you do for the rest of the time? any info would be appreciated. thanks

part livery sometimes differs between yards.

When i had my horse in Fife, part livery was basically full livery except he was DIY for 3 days a week.
Friends horse is on party livery, she gets mucked out 5 days a week, turn out every day by staff.

She goes up every day and rides and spents time with Tannie. She has decided that the yard will muck out monday-friday and she will do the wkend stunt. During the wkends she gets up around 8am goes up to yard, mucks out, has a lesson and spents a couple of hours pottering around while Tannies in the field. She leaves just whenever as she has the luxury of knowing that her horse will be brought back in.

First of all you have to define part livery! To me, part livery is 7 days a week, and includes all stabling, bedding and feed; feeding, turning out, bringing in, changing rugs; all stable chores and field chores; organising farrier, dentist, back person, vets etc. . Basically, when my horses were on part livery all I needed to do was turn up, groom and ride (and one part livery deal included grooming!).

I thought that part livery (in my novice opinon:D ) was the 'stablehand' could muck out in the morning and do the early morning 'bit'. And then, the owner does the remainder in the afternoon/evening? am i right? I know this is more expensive than diy but easier if you work and do the school run.

any opinons??:p

Full livery includes grooming and exercise :) But then, I'm showing my age again, I expect :)

That's why I said you needed to define 'part livery' though - it obviously means different things to different people, and changes completely what you would have to do, and your daily routine. So, I didn't HAVE to do anything unless I wanted to; whereas if your part livery only included someone doing half the chores you would HAVE to do the other half...

My part livery deal includes ad-lib hay, bedding and hi-fibre feed. I buy supplements etc. YO brings in and feeds I turn out and prepare feed/bedding for next day, but 3 days a week I dont go to yard at all and YO sorts everything for me.
