Hi,

our barn got a few new horses.

the ones name is Lady, shes a TB, 15'2-15'3

shes a little spooky, but not like crazy!

Shes a bit outta shape, so she doesnt bend terribly well, but you can tell shes tryin! lol.

i totally love her! shes so friendly, and barb thinks she likes me. lol

I asked my dad about half boarding, and usually hes like "no, we dont have enough money" but this time he said "well see"!!!!

ive half boarded a pony at the barn before for a summer.

well, the reason i posted this in here was that what kind of stuff can i do to improve bending, and moving off of the leg?
lol, ill answer any questions gladly that you have about ~Lady~

lol,
thanks bye

try going round cones, and doing some serpentines trying to make them as small as you can.

good luck wit the horse!!

do the cones like this!! YOU CAN DO IT FASTER ONCE YOU HAVE GOT IT RIGHT!

hi, thanx.

i think ill be doing tons of circles etc!

another thing is her neck, its not terribly bad, it has kinda a "droop" (lol) infront of her withers. i cant remember how old she is........
and another thing, sometimes, she drops her head down, like not to the ground, but far enough for me to lose my balance a bit.

she mostly does this in downward transitions.

thanks, lol, ill answer any questions! lol, i dont have any horsey friends, like that live in my town to talk to her about! lol, but i still love you holly and nicole!!lol :P

From what you've said, it sounds like she's a bit unfit!! and out of shape!

Before doing lots of circle work, make sure she is well warmed up - plenty of transitions upward and downward and make sure she is working from behind, not dragging her back feet!!

You may find that she'll find this work hard to start with, so take it easy and start with half hour sessions and build up gradually. Don't forget you can also make her work when out on a hack/trail ride.

You don't say how old she is. The 'droop' in front of her withers could be due to her being high withered (common in TB's!!) or her age, or general unfitness. You may find that with time and exercise this will become less prominent.

The 'head dropping' bit could be again due to unfitness and where she is trying to keep her balance as she slows down. It is difficult to say without seeing her work.

I do wish you luck - sounds like a really good horse!

hi,

ya, if i do get to half board her, i wont jump into hard work!

ya she is unfit, i forgot to find out how old she is, but i will askt this weekend.

she is such a sweetie!
shes a little stiff on the right rein, and doesnt bend well to that side, but i will slowly start workin more on circles and bending, but not right away, cuz she cant reely handle that now! usually, our lesson is about 5 or 10 minutes shorter than teh other ppl, because when were jumping, she cant do as many.
our lesson is an hour, and the other ppl are a little over.
with her i do a nice long warm up and cool down, and doing just circles at walk to warm up and serpentines.

thanx

I know, don't you love it when parent's say "maybe, let me think about it, we'll see, or I'll consider it".. It means that they want to say yes, but just have a few more thoughts to sort out.. I usually persuade them from a no to maybe, which is difficult.. But after that I make sure I don't argue with them until they say yes, heh heh. :p

Congrats on part-boarding though!! I've had a rough start trying to get someone to let me part board.. But if I'm patient I know it'll come around to me soon.

I used to lease a mare that fit that exact description! Except she's over here in the US still, hehe. Her name was also Lady, she as a 15.3 hh 1990 TB mare, bay, flightly, loves to run and jump.
