my riding instructor keeps moaning that when i ride my feet point outwards. Is there an way to help me slove the problem? or will it just take time and practise?

Time and practice me thinks!!! I don't think mine point out - but I know they're not just "quite right" - still, there is always something we can work on.....

I have that problem! My excuse is that I think my thigh turns outwards (not sure if its because i'm gripping with my knees or something) and so its sets everything else up wrong then. Just have to learn to relax the leg.

I was told to pretend that I was using my inner ankle to kic etc and that would turn my toes in and it does work except when I'm jumping and then I dont care as I'm too busy trying to stay on lol :D

Practice makes perfect huh

When i first saw the words "happy feet" immediately made me think of the movie, :o anyhow moving on my feet stick out when jumping amba but i'm getting better, i think with practice and time you'll get better.

Good luck

What makes me giggle is that people spend years and years and thousands of pounds getting their riding perfect and then they go into serious competition and adrenalin (sp?) kicks in, there is arms and legs and toes all over the place :D

If you watch some of the top class riders they don't give a crap how they ride, toes in or not, as long as they get round with a chance of winning.

The only problem with that is that when i do go to a show i will do dressage. I'm not exactly a fan of jumping.

I like jumping but look awful when I do it...its like watching a jack-in-a-box ride so I have been told :D

When i trry to kepp my toes forward i completely stop what im doing and relax my legs n then start again and direct with my feet, so if i want to go forward, my feet are forward...if i want to go left i point my toes slightly to the left. This gives you a good idea of where you toes are and helps you become more aware of their position. Try some stirrupless/bareback riding too because this will length and relax your leg without the stirrups interfering.
